Refuge de Moëde Anterne

Refuge de Moëde Anterne sits at 1996m on the eastern flank of the Chaîne du Roc. Access from the north is via the Vallée Verte: walk from Samoëns (850m) in 4–5 hours, gaining 1150m steadily through forest and meadow. From the south, the approach from Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval (900m) takes 3–4 hours. Both routes are well-marked and hikeable in summer conditions. Winter access is unreliable.
The refuge manages 97 beds across dormitories and 13 private rooms. The kitchen serves evening meals and breakfast. There is no WiFi. Running water and toilets are available. The hut operates year-round, though facilities are limited outside July–August when a full-time keeper is present. In winter, access is by ski or winter hiking only. This is a working base for day walks on the Chaîne du Roc and routes into the Parc National des Écrins.
Book by phone well ahead of July and August; weekends fill 6–8 weeks in advance. Outside summer months, confirm opening status and staffing before arriving. The hut is affiliated with the FFCAM. Bring cash or a card reader for payment—neither facility is guaranteed in winter.
