Refuge de Sales

Refuge de Sales sits at 2,069m in the Chaîne du Reposoir, above the Vallée de Borne in Haute-Savoie. You reach it from the village of Entremont in roughly 2 hours on foot via a consistent trail through beech and spruce forest. The hut works as a base for the Gran Raid des Chaînes du Reposoir and as a waypoint on ridge traverses linking Pointe de Nyon (2,011m) and Pointe Percée (2,750m). Winter approach is possible but requires snowshoe experience and avalanche awareness.
The refuge operates year-round and sleeps around 60 people in dormitory beds. The FFCAM-affiliated hut serves evening meals and breakfast, with self-catering space available. Water comes from a reliable source nearby. Facilities are basic: no showers, composting toilets. Mobile signal is weak. The hut sits just outside Parc National des Écrins boundary but within a protected landscape of the Reposoir massif.
Book 2–3 months ahead for July and August weekends. Contact the refuge directly by phone or email through the FFCAM database. Outside summer, the hut is quieter and walkable without advance booking, though you should confirm opening dates before travelling in shoulder seasons.
