Rifugio Giorgio Bertone Vecchio

Rifugio Giorgio Bertone Vecchio sits at 1,970m in the Haute-Savoie, on the Italian side of the Mont-Blanc massif near Courmayeur. The hut is a 2–2.5 hour walk from Rifugio Maison Vielle (1,714m), which you reach by road from the Vallée de la Maurienne. Most hikers approach from the south via the Tour du Mont-Blanc route or from Rifugio Elisabetta Soldini to the north. The terrain is steep in places but well-marked.

The refuge is maintained by volunteers and operates on a traditional Alpine model—expect straightforward hospitality rather than creature comforts.
