The cabin works as a base for day ascents and as a waypoint on multi-day traverses heading toward higher cols.
The cabin offers basic mountain refuge accommodation with room for around 20 people in dorm-style bunks. Meals are provided if pre-ordered—expect simple mountain fare rather than restaurant cooking. Water comes from mountain sources. The facility runs year-round but staffing varies; summer months (June to September) see reliable full service, while shoulder seasons depend on advance notice. Heating and facilities are functional rather than comfortable.
