Cabin Pastorale du Chourum Clot

Cabane Pastorale du Chourum Clot sits at 2,430m in the Hautes-Alpes, in the southern reaches of Parc National des Écrins. Reach it from the Pré-de-Madame trailhead near Ancelle, a 2.5-hour hike gaining 650m through alpine meadow and sparse larch forest. The cabin marks the start of routes into the Chaîne du Devoluy and serves as a base for scrambles to Pic de Ségure (2,881m) and traverses toward the Valgaudemar valley. Summer access is straightforward; winter approaches require mountaineering experience and avalanche awareness.
The cabin operates year-round as an unstaffed refuge managed by FFCAM, with capacity for 16 people in dormitory quarters. No meals or supplies are available on-site—bring everything you need. Water comes from a spring nearby. The hut has basic sleeping platforms, a wood stove for heating, and a small storage area. Winter visits demand self-sufficiency: the building provides shelter only, with no caretaker, electricity, or running water beyond snow melt.
