Gite D'alpage de la Tour de Borne

Gîte d'Alpage de la Tour de Borne sits at 1,340m on the eastern slopes of the Chaîne de Belledonne in Isère. The hut is accessible on foot from the village of Pinsot (allow 2 hours) or from Allevard via a longer forest trail. Most hikers approach from Pinsot, following marked paths through mixed woodland that gradually opens to pasture. The location works as a base for day walks across the Belledonne ridge or as a waypoint on multi-day routes linking the Isère valleys.
The gîte has 25 beds split across dormitory rooms. Meals are available on request, typically simple mountain fare cooked on site. The hut operates as a working alpine farm during summer months, so expect a working environment rather than a dedicated mountain refuge. Water comes from the spring. Basic cooking facilities are available if you bring your own food. The season runs from June to September, depending on weather and staffing. Phone ahead to confirm opening dates.
