Bivacco Luca Reboulaz

Bivacco Luca Reboulaz sits at 2,575m on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif, above the Val Ferret. Reach it from Courmayeur by hiking the Val Ferret trail, a steady 4-hour push gaining 1,000m elevation. The bivouac stands on the main approach to Mont Blanc via the Three Monts route and serves mountaineers tackling peaks across the massif. If you're coming from France, the approach via the Montenvers side takes longer but works if you're already in that valley.
The bivouac holds 24 beds split across small rooms. Water comes from meltwater sources—reliability depends on season. Meals aren't guaranteed; bring your own food and cooking fuel. There's a stove for melting snow and warming drinks. The hut operates year-round, though winter access requires Alpine experience and avalanche awareness. Facilities are minimal: expect a roof, sleeping platform, and not much else. This is functional shelter for mountaineers, not a staffed refuge.
Book directly by email or phone well ahead for July and August. June and September are quieter but still busy. The bivouac can feel cramped in peak season. Arrive with a headtorch—darkness comes fast at this elevation. Bring everything you need: the hut is bare-bones by design.
