Refuge de Grand Plan
2.6About
The refuge operates as a staffed seasonal hut run by FFCAM. It accommodates around 40 people in dormitory beds. Half-board (demi-pension) is available—meals are cooked to order rather than buffet style. Water comes from a spring; toilets are outside. The hut opens mid-June through September, with weekends only in early season. Phone ahead if you arrive late; the guardian expects you.
Book 4–6 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Call the hut directly to confirm availability and meal arrangements before arriving. Single-night stays are accepted outside peak summer, but Friday and Saturday beds disappear fast. The road to Landry is open year-round, but snow blocks the higher approach path until late May. Bring a headtorch if you hike in after 19:00—the path has no markers below 2,100m.
