Refuge de Grand Plan sits at 1,923m in the northern Vanoise, above the Tarentaise valley. Reach it from Landry via the GR55 trail—allow 3–4 hours for the 7km approach. The hut perches on a shelf of alpine pasture where trails converge toward Pointe de la Réchasse and the higher Vanoise peaks. This is a base for moderate day walks and access point for longer ridge traverses into the Parc National de la Vanoise.
The refuge operates as a staffed seasonal hut run by FFCAM. It accommodates around 40 people in dormitory beds. Half-board (demi-pension) is available—meals are cooked to order rather than buffet style. Water comes from a spring; toilets are outside. The hut opens mid-June through September, with weekends only in early season. Phone ahead if you arrive late; the guardian expects you.
