Alpe Kammeregg

Alpe Kammeregg sits at 1200m in the Allgäu Alps, deep in rolling pasture and forest south of Immenstadt. Reach it on foot from Immenstadt town center in roughly 2.5 hours via the marked trail through Bühl. The approach gains 600m steadily but never steeply, making it accessible for day-hikers as well as those planning overnight stays. From the hut you can push deeper into the Allgäu high country or loop back via different valley routes.
The hut is a working alpine dairy farm as well as a mountain hut, so expect rustic charm mixed with real mountain life. Capacity runs to around 40 beds spread across simple rooms. Meals focus on hearty Bavarian fare: their own dairy products feature prominently, and they serve good soups and schnitzel. The kitchen opens for lunch and dinner. Water and basic facilities are reliable. The hut sits in a quiet, sheltered location that feels genuinely remote despite reasonable access.
