Bodenschneidhaus

Bodenschneidhaus sits at 1365m on the Bodenschneid massif, a prominent ridge in the Mangfall range southeast of Bad Tölz. The hut is accessible year-round from Enterrottach via a steep 2.5-hour trail that gains 650m through mixed forest. In winter, approach from Fischbachau to the northeast—a longer but less exposed route. From the hut, you can ridge-walk to Bodenschneid's summit (1338m) in 30 minutes or continue southeast toward the Leonhardi-Köpfl and Auerspitz.
The DAV-managed hut sleeps around 50 guests across simple double and dormitory rooms with basic heating. It serves hearty Bavarian meals at lunch and dinner; the kitchen accommodates vegetarian and vegan diets with advance notice. Water comes from a spring; toilets are outside. The hut operates year-round, though staffing levels vary seasonally. No showers on-site. Cell reception is weak but present.
Book at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Contact the hut directly by phone for availability during these periods—email responses can lag by several days when busy. Winter bookings (December to early March) should be confirmed 3 weeks in advance, as the hut occasionally closes for maintenance. Families with young children should confirm winter conditions and staffing before arrival. Credit cards and bank transfers accepted; cash is preferred.
