Stümpfling Alm
2.5About
The alm operates as a traditional mountain dairy farm with simple accommodation—expect around 30 beds arranged in dormitory-style rooms and a handful of private doubles. The kitchen serves hearty regional food at lunch and dinner, using local dairy products and Alpine produce where possible. Basic facilities include running water and heating. The hut opens from late May to early October, closing during winter and spring snowmelt when access becomes unreliable. Phone ahead to confirm opening dates and current conditions.
Book your bed directly by phone or email at least 2–3 weeks ahead, especially for weekends and July–August. The alm is family-friendly and popular with Munich day-hikers and walkers doing the Isar valley routes, so it fills quickly in high season. Midweek visits are quieter. Arrive early if you haven't reserved ahead—the hut takes walk-ins when capacity allows, but don't count on a bed in summer.
