Lagler Hut

Lagler Hütte sits at 1,050m in the foothills south of Bad Tölz, on the edge of the Bavarian Alps proper. You reach it from the village of Sachendorf by hiking southeast for roughly 2 hours through mixed forest. The approach is straightforward and gains about 400m elevation. From the hut, you can push further into the Benediktenwand massif or use it as a base for day walks in the surrounding Tölz Land.

The hut is run by the DAV and offers around 35 beds in simple dormitory rooms. Meals focus on hearty Bavarian fare. You can expect hot dinners, breakfast, and packed lunches. The kitchen stocks basic provisions if you want to self-cater. Water comes from a spring. The hut opens year-round but gets quieter from November through March. It works well as an overnight stop rather than a destination in itself—most visitors are hiking through to higher ground.

Book beds directly through the DAV hut booking system (huetten.alpenverein.de) or call ahead. Summer weekends fill fast, especially July and August; aim to book 4-6 weeks ahead. The hut is popular with families doing their first multi-day Alpine trips and with Munich-based day hikers, so expect crowds on Sundays. Arrive by early afternoon to secure a good spot.
