Lenggrieser Hut

Lenggrieser Hütte sits at 1,336m in the Braunenstein massif, south of the village of Lenggries in the Isar Valley. The standard approach takes 2.5–3 hours from Lenggries itself (650m), following the Weißenbach valley on a well-marked path. Most hikers reach the hut as part of longer traverses across the Braunenstein or as a base for day walks to nearby peaks like the Braunenstein (1,528m) or Tuftstein (1,457m). The hut lies roughly midway between Munich (90km north) and Mittenwald, making it accessible for weekend trips.
The DAV Sektion Lenggries operates this 40-bed hut year-round. Expect simple dormitory beds, a warm kitchen, hot showers, and a small dining area. The warden serves hearty dinners and packed lunches on request. No WiFi—bring a book or plan to talk with other hikers. The hut works well as a quiet alternative to the busier Benediktenwand huts further south.
Book your bed 2–3 weeks ahead for weekends, especially June through September. Contact the hut directly by phone or email; the DAV website lists current contact details. Peak weekends fill quickly. Mid-week stays rarely require advance planning. The warden lives on-site, so phone calls work best during afternoon hours (14:00–18:00).
