Blaueishütte

Blaueishütte sits at 1680m in the Berchtesgaden Alps, reached from the Blaueis valley south of Berchtesgaden. The approach takes 2 to 2.5 hours on foot from the Königssee area or the Hintersee trailhead, making it a solid morning hike with moderate elevation gain. The hut serves as a base for day walks into the surrounding limestone peaks and for routes toward the Hochkalter massif.
The DAV-managed hut has capacity for around 60 guests in mixed dormitory rooms. The kitchen serves dinner and breakfast; you can order packed lunches. Showers are available, which matters after a few days on the trails. The hut typically opens from May through October, depending on snow cover. Phone ahead to confirm opening dates if you're planning an early or late season visit.

May, June, September, and October offer easier booking. The hut is popular with weekend hikers from Munich, so Friday and Saturday nights are busier than weekday slots.
