Ricovero Casera Navis

Ricovero Casera Navis sits at 659m in the foothills of Friuli Venezia Giulia, near the Carnic Alps. The hut serves as a base for hikers working the ridge routes and valley trails of the region. Access is via the Val Pesarina—a straightforward approach that takes 2–3 hours on foot from the nearest road access. The location puts you in prime territory for day walks across limestone ridges and into the Dolomite fringes.

The rifugio is a small, unpretentious shelter with basic accommodation and meals. Capacity runs to around 20–30 people. The hut opens seasonally, typically April through October, depending on conditions and staffing. Half-board arrangements are standard. Expect simple mountain food—pasta, stews, polenta—and local Friulian specialties when available. Water comes from the mountain spring; facilities are basic but functional.
