This is a small, basic rifugio with 9 beds in simple dormitory rooms. It has a self-catering kitchen, so bring your own food. There is no restaurant service or prepared meals. Water comes from the spring. The hut opens year-round but gets heavy snow above 1,000m in winter; check conditions before visiting December–March. Summer and autumn (June–October) are most reliable.
Book directly with the hut manager well ahead for July and August, as capacity is tight. Contact via CAI or local tourism offices in the province of Udine for current phone numbers and opening dates. This is a working shepherd's shelter first, a hut second—expect rustic conditions and self-sufficiency. The reward is solitude and access to some of the Julian Alps' quietest high-altitude terrain.
