About

Bivacco Alpe Manco sits at 1,750m in the high meadows of Lombardy's Bergamasque Alps. Reach it in 2–2.5 hours from Rifugio Rorna (1,450m), heading northeast through pasture and light woodland. The final section climbs steeply across open terrain. Winter access is unreliable due to snow and exposed approach.

The bivouac sleeps 12 in two rooms with basic bunk beds. There is no guardian, no meals, and no heating. A flush toilet block and rainwater tanks are the only facilities. Bring a sleeping bag, stove, and all food. The hut sits on a junction of hiking and ski-touring routes, making it useful for winter traverses and summer ridge walks toward the higher peaks north and east.

This is an unstaffed refuge. Arrive with supplies and expect to be entirely self-sufficient. Book by contacting the managing CAI section directly or check availability through rifugi.net. Summer weekends fill quickly; aim for midweek or shoulder season (May–June, September–October). Winter use requires mountain experience and avalanche awareness.
