Ca' Rovellasca

Ca' Rovellasca sits at 1,591m in the Orobie Alps of Lombardy, serving as a base for ridge walking and scrambling across this less-crowded range. You reach it via a 2-hour hike from Serina valley, climbing steadily through beech forest on a marked path. The final approach crosses open meadow with views across to Pizzo Arera and the main ridge. The hut is small—15 beds total—and runs as a private mountain lodge rather than a club rifugio, so it fills quickly in summer weekends.

The hut operates year-round and serves dinner and breakfast to guests. The kitchen is basic but functional. Sleeping is in dormitory rooms with blankets provided. There's no shower, but washing facilities are available. This is not a place for comfort-seeking; it's functional shelter for people heading into the high country. The location works well for ridge traverses toward Pizzo della Presolana or as a staging point for longer mountain days in the northern Orobie.

Solo walkers and small groups usually find space midweek without advance notice.
