About

Bivacco Linge sits at 2,275m on the border between Trentino and Lombardy, serving climbers and hikers crossing the high passes of the central Alps. The hut is reached via the Val Camonica approach from the south or from the Adamello massif trails to the north. Most parties arrive in 4–5 hours of hiking from valley trailheads. This is a climber's base, not a destination hut.

The bivacco is a small, unattended shelter with basic sleeping capacity for 8–10 people on a first-come basis. Bring your own sleeping bag and mat. There is no staffing, no food service, and no heating. The shelter provides roof and walls only—reliable in bad weather but minimal in comfort. Water is available from nearby snowmelt or streams depending on season. The hut operates year-round, though winter access requires mountaineering skills and appropriate conditions. Summer (July–September) is the practical hiking season here.

Register your visit with the CAI section managing the hut—Sezione Pezzo-Ponte di Legno. Check rifugio.net or cai.it for current access conditions and any temporary closures. No advance booking is possible since the hut is unstaffed. Arrive with daylight and full supplies. The bivacco fills only during peak climbing season, but you cannot guarantee a spot, so carry emergency shelter. Bring a stove and fuel—cooking indoors is dangerous without proper ventilation.
