Brunstalm - Malga Brusada

Brunstalm sits at 1,898m in the Zillertal, accessed from Mayrhofen in the Zillertal valley. The approach takes 2.5 hours from the valley floor via the Stillupbach gorge trail. You can also reach it in 1.5 hours from Stillup village. The hut serves as a solid base for walks into the surrounding meadows and peaks.

The hut accommodates 60 guests across simple rooms. Half-board is standard: expect hearty Tyrolean cooking and a decent wine list. They serve breakfast and a three-course dinner daily. The kitchen is reliable rather than adventurous. Open late May through October, though October sees reduced hours. Basic shower and toilet facilities are available. A small shop sells snacks and drink refills.

Book 3 months ahead for July and August weekends. Contact them directly via email to check current availability and confirm half-board rates. Weekday slots fill less quickly. The hut fills with day-walkers on sunny weather days, so you'll share the evening meal with a rotating crowd—expect a social atmosphere rather than solitude.
