Putzalm - Malga Putz

Putzalm sits at 1743m in the Zillertal, Tyrol, accessible from the village of Mayrhofen. Most hikers approach via the Zillertal valley trail, a gradual 2–3 hour walk from the valley floor. The hut lies on the main route between Mayrhofen and higher alpine passes, making it a natural first-night stop or refueling point on longer traverses.

The hut operates as a working alpine dairy (Sennalm) and simple mountain restaurant combined. It offers basic dormitory beds and serves substantial meals—expect hearty Tyrolean fare built around local dairy products. The setting is pastoral rather than dramatic: you're in active grazing country with views across the Zillertal. Facilities are functional. The hut operates late spring through autumn; confirm exact dates before planning, as alpine dairies often close by September for the season.
