About

Büllelejochhütte sits at 2,528m on the Büllelejoch pass in the Zillertal Alps, south of Mayrhofen. The main approach takes 3 hours from Stillup Alm (1,450m). You climb steeply through larch forest, then traverse open alpine meadow to the hut. An alternative approach from Zemmgrund takes 4.5 hours and is less steep. Snow lingers until late May, so summer boots work from June onward.

The hut has 80 beds split across two buildings and serves hearty mountain food from a small kitchen. Meals are simple and fuel-focused: pasta, stews, bread, and coffee. Water comes from a spring. The hut offers no hot showers, only washbasins. It runs from mid-June through late September, closing in poor weather. Expect cold nights even in summer.

Book directly by phone or email 6–8 weeks ahead for July and August. July and the first week of August are busiest. June and September are quieter and give you better odds of a same-day bed if you arrive early afternoon. The hut fills quickly on weekends. Bring cash—cards are not reliable here.
