Rifugio Bec de Roces

Rifugio Bec de Roces sits at 2,160m in the Ligurian Alps, accessible from the village of Triora in Imperia Province. The approach takes 3–4 hours on well-marked trails through beech and chestnut forest, gaining 1,200m steadily. You can also approach from the Colle di Nava (2,135m) in 1.5 hours if you have transport to the pass. The location works as a basecamp for ridge walks across the western Ligurian Alps or as a night stop on longer traverses toward the Mediterranean.
The rifugio is a modest stone building with capacity for around 30 people in dormitory rooms. Half-board is standard: dinner and breakfast included, with lunch available on request. There's no electricity or running water—you'll wash in cold water from the spring. The season runs from June through September, though it's best to check conditions in early June as snow lingers. The hut is staffed by the caretaker who manages meals and maintenance.
Book directly through the hut by phone or email at least 3 weeks ahead during July and August. Weekends fill quickly year-round. The hut can be reached without prior reservation if you're prepared to sleep on the floor and cook your own food—bring a stove and fuel. Check opening dates before you leave, as staffing is seasonal and weather-dependent.
