Ütia Cherz

Ütia Cherz sits at 2,095m in the Dolomites, accessible via the Val Gardena from Ortisei. The approach takes 2.5 hours on foot from Passo Ghedina (2,135m), making this a logical lunch stop or base for ridge walks across the Sassolungo massif. Most guests arrive by cable car and chairlift from the valley floor, reaching the hut in under an hour. The surrounding terrain offers everything from gentle meadow traverses to scrambling on Via ferrata routes.
The hut operates year-round and accommodates 60 guests across simple but clean rooms. Meals focus on Ladin and South Tyrolean cooking—expect casunziei (stuffed pasta), spätzle, and game in season. Half and full board are standard. The kitchen supplies packed lunches for early starts. Facilities include private rooms and dormitories, a restaurant with valley views, and a basic shower block.
