Rifugio Ciampai

Rifugio Ciampai sits at 2,484m on the Sella Group's northern edge, above the Val di Fassa in the Dolomites. Reach it from Passo Ghedina (2,159m) in 2.5 hours via a straightforward trail that climbs through larch forest and rocky terrain. The hut perches on a col between Passo Ghedina and the higher passes, making it a natural waypoint for multi-day traverse routes across the Sella massif. From the hut, strong walkers can reach Passo Sella (2,244m) in 45 minutes or continue to higher passes and peaks across the Sella Group.
The hut has 50 beds in simple rooms and runs a restaurant serving local Trentino dishes alongside standard Alpine fare. Half-board is the standard arrangement. Water comes from a mountain spring. The hut operates late June to late September, with staff present year-round for emergencies. Mobile signal is unreliable here, so plan accordingly. The setting is exposed; bring layers and waterproofs even in summer, as weather systems move through quickly above 2,400m.
