Rifugio Stella Alpina

Rifugio Stella Alpina sits at 2,568m in the Adamello-Presanella range, accessed from the Val di Genova. Most hikers approach via the Genova valley trail, a 3.5-hour ascent from Carisolo (1,432m). The route gains 1,136m steadily through larch forest before breaking into alpine meadow. An alternative approach from the Nardis waterfall adds 45 minutes but offers a more scenic entry. The hut lies on established trekking routes connecting the Presanella ridge and Adamello glacier approaches.
The hut sleeps 40 guests in mixed and private rooms. Dinner and breakfast are included with overnight stays; packed lunches are available for trekkers continuing into multi-day routes. The facility runs a full kitchen and serves simple mountain food. Water comes from melted snow above 2,500m, so supplies are reliable year-round. The hut operates mid-June through late September, closing during shoulder seasons due to snow and rockfall risk on access paths.
Book by phone at least 3 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. The hut fills quickly during school holidays and in good weather windows. Weekend traffic peaks Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Phone ahead to confirm current conditions and water availability in early season, as late snow can delay access until July.
