Santnerpasshütte - Rifugio Passo Santner

Santnerpasshütte sits at 2,734m on the Passo Santner, a high pass between the Dolomites' Val di Fassa and Val Gardena. Most hikers approach from the south via the Val di Fassa side, taking roughly 3-4 hours from Passo Fedaia (2,057m). You can also reach it from the north in 2-3 hours from Selva Val Gardena. The hut marks a natural stopping point on multi-day ridge traverses and is well-positioned for accessing peaks in the Sella Ronda area.

The hut operates year-round with 40 beds split between dormitory and private rooms. Meals are solid mountain fare—dinners are typically three-course affairs, breakfasts substantial. The kitchen caters to vegetarian diets if you request in advance. Water comes from a spring; there's a basic shower available. The building is simple but well-maintained, with a small bar area where you can warm up between climbing and hiking days. Summer and early autumn are busy with ridge walkers and climbers tackling routes on nearby crags.

Book directly by email or phone 2-3 months ahead for July and August. Weekends fill faster than weekdays. The hut accepts cash only, so bring euros. Winter access is intermittent—confirm conditions before attempting a winter ascent.
