Schlernbödele Hütte - Rifugio Malghetta Sciliar

Schlernbödele Hütte sits at 1,693m on the Schlern plateau in South Tyrol, Italy. Reach it from Völs am Schlern village (about 40 minutes by car from Bolzano). From the village, hike 1 hour 15 minutes to the hut on a well-marked path through beech forest and alpine meadow. The approach is moderate and suitable for families. You can also approach from Seis am Schlern on the opposite side of the plateau—a 2-hour hike that's equally straightforward.
The hut operates year-round and sleeps 50 guests in shared dorms and a few private rooms. Hot meals focus on South Tyrolean mountain food: speck, cheese, hearty soups. Self-catering is not possible. Beds come with clean linens. The hut has a small bar and basic shower facilities. The location sits ideal for day hikes across the Schlern—a limestone plateau with 20+ marked trails ranging 2–5 hours. Water supply is seasonal; confirm availability in winter before booking.
