Grasleitenhütte - Rifugio Bergamo

Grasleitenhütte sits at 2,165m in the Zillertal, on the approach to the Ziller Saddle. You reach it via the Zemmgrund valley trail from Mayrhofen (1,360m). The hike takes 2.5 hours on a well-marked path that climbs steadily through larch forest before opening onto alpine meadows. The hut lies at a junction of several routes: south to the Ziller Saddle and Pfitscherjoch pass, east toward the Hochfeiler massif, and north back down the valley. Good foundation for 2–3 day traverses across the High Zillertal.
The hut accommodates 80 people in mixed and private rooms with shared bathrooms. Meals include half-board (breakfast and dinner) or lunch packs. They serve straightforward mountain food—expect pasta, schnitzel, and soup. There's no WiFi. The season runs mid-June to mid-October, with spring and autumn offering quieter conditions and clearer weather windows. Water comes from mountain springs; electricity is from generators and solar.
Book direct by phone or email, especially for July and August when the hut fills weekends. Weekday visits in June, September, or October see far fewer hikers. Confirm opening dates before traveling, as spring snow can delay access until late June in heavy years.
