Bivouac Murelon "A. Scopel"

Bivacco Murelon sits at 1483m on the slopes of Monte Murèlon in the Venetian Prealps, roughly 90 minutes' walk from Passo Ghedina near Feltre. The approach follows well-marked trails through beech forest and alpine pasture. Summer access is straightforward; winter requires mountaineering experience and proper equipment.

This is a basic bivouac—a small, unstaffed shelter with capacity for 8–10 people. It has a woodstove, benches, and a roof. Bring your own food, water, and sleeping bag. The shelter sits on a logical route for traversing the Murèlon massif and makes a solid base for scrambling and mixed climbing on the surrounding peaks. The elevation keeps it cool even in peak summer.

The bivouac operates year-round but is most reliable June through September. Check locally with CAI Feltre before visiting in winter or spring—avalanche risk and access can change. There are no booking requirements or facilities; arrive early if you're counting on space, especially weekends. Bring a headtorch and respect the shelter by packing out all rubbish.
