Rifugio Giampietro Talamini

Rifugio Giampietro Talamini sits at 1582m in the Dolomites, a solid base for day hikes across the Tre Cime di Lavaredo massif and the surrounding limestone plateaus. The hut is accessed from Cortina d'Ampezzo or via the Tre Cime road; most hikers approach from the Auronzo parking area, a 1.5 to 2-hour walk through mixed forest and open terrain. The location puts you right on the high-altitude trail network that connects the major peaks and alpine meadows of this region.
The hut operates year-round and sleeps around 20 guests in simple rooms with 2–4 beds. Half-board is standard: simple but filling mountain food, nothing fancy. The bar serves coffee and drinks throughout the day. Toilets and washbasins are shared; heating is adequate in winter. This is a working mountain hut, not a resort. No WiFi. Cooking facilities are not available for guest use.
Book directly by phone or email as far ahead as possible during July and August. Weekend slots fill quickly year-round. The hut is quieter on weekdays and in shoulder seasons (May–June, September–October), when you can often walk in without reservation. Winter access depends on snow conditions and avalanche risk; confirm before arriving. Staff speak Italian and English.
