Rifugio Lagazuoi

Rifugio Lagazuoi sits at 2,752m on the Lagazuoi massif in the Dolomites, directly above the Falzarego Pass road. Most hikers reach it in 2 hours from the pass parking area via the well-marked trail that climbs the southwest face. The hut is accessible year-round by cable car from the pass if bad weather or time constraints demand it, though the hiking approach is straightforward in summer conditions.
The rifugio has 78 beds spread across 14 private rooms and dormitories. Meals are substantial—dinner is typically a multi-course meal, breakfast is included with overnight stays. The kitchen supplies packed lunches if you order ahead. There's no WiFi, so plan on genuine disconnection. The hut operates year-round but is most reliable June through September; winter opening depends on snow conditions and staffing. The location makes it a natural base for traversing the Lagazuoi ridge system or exploring the surrounding Tre Cime approaches.
Book 3-4 months ahead for July and August weekends. Contact the hut directly by email or phone to check availability and request room preferences. They fill quickly during peak season because the location is excellent and the hut is one of the few in the area with private rooms. Shoulder seasons (June and September) offer better availability and fewer crowds without compromising weather reliability.
