Rifugio "Passo Valparola"

Rifugio Passo Valparola sits at 2,168m on the Passo Valparola between the Ghedina and Ra Gusela peaks, in the Dolomites near Cortina d'Ampezzo. Most hikers approach from the south via the Passo Falzarego road (a 15-minute uphill walk from the car park), or from the north via the Tre Croci pass trail. The hut is a natural hub for ring traverses around the Ra Gusela massif and access to the via ferrata routes that crisscross this sector.
The rifugio is a solid mountain inn with 40 bed spaces, mostly in 2–4 bed rooms. The kitchen serves hearty Dolomite fare at lunch and dinner; half-board is the standard offering. Facilities include hot showers and a small bar. The hut operates year-round, though winter conditions limit access to the higher trails. Most visitors come between June and September when the via ferratas are snow-free and afternoon thunderstorms predictable but manageable.
Book directly by phone or email at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. The hut fills quickly during the Tre Cime hiking season and when the Cortina road is busy with tourists. Mid-week visits and shoulder seasons (May, September, early October) offer better availability and quieter conditions on the trails.
