Rifugio San Marco sits at 1823m in the Valle del Boite, where three of the Dolomites' long-distance trails converge: Alta Via 3, 4, and 5. Reach it from Cortina d'Ampezzo via the Passo Ghedina approach, a steady 2.5-3 hour hike from the pass. The hut has been rebuilt and expanded since 1895 but retains its original character. It works equally well as a staging point for multi-day traverses or a day trip destination from the valley floor.
The hut holds 39 beds plus 2 emergency places across simple rooms. CAI staff serve meals in summer and provide basic hot food in winter. Hot showers run year-round. Bring your own drinking water or fill from the tap. There's no WiFi. The staffed season runs roughly June to September; winter access depends on snow conditions and you'll need to be self-sufficient for cooking.
