Schesaplanahütte

Schesaplanahütte sits at 1,908m on the Schesaplana massif, the highest peak in Liechtenstein at 2,964m. Reach it from Vaduz in roughly 3 hours on foot via the Fürstensteig trail, a steep but well-marked route through open Alpine terrain. Most hikers approach from the Malbun side if coming from Switzerland. The hut anchors a strong hiking network across the Liechtenstein Alps, with trails leading east toward the Appenzell Alps and south into Vorarlberg.
The hut holds 65 beds across multiple dormitories and a few double rooms. SAC (Swiss Alpine Club) manages it with good standards. Meals are served daily during the season—expect solid Alpine fare rather than gourmet cooking. A self-catering kitchen lets you prepare your own food if preferred. Drinking water is reliable. The hut stays open year-round, though winter conditions on the Schesaplana can be serious; confirm snow and avalanche conditions before heading up November to April.
Book direct by email or phone, especially for summer weekends and school holidays when beds fill fast. July and August demand booking 4–6 weeks ahead. The hut can accommodate larger groups if you contact them well in advance. Winter guests need mountaineering experience and should call ahead to check facilities and route conditions. Single night stays are welcome outside peak season.
