About
This is a basic mountain bivouac, not a staffed hut. It provides emergency shelter with a capacity of roughly 12 people in tight conditions. The structure has a roof, walls, and a basic interior, but you'll find no amenities—no food, water, heating, or blankets. Bring your own sleeping bag and pad. A water source exists nearby, though you should verify flow before relying on it in autumn. The bivouac is open year-round, though winter access requires mountaineering experience and avalanche awareness.
Use this hut as an emergency shelter or as a camp base for multi-day mountaineering in the Trenta region. It's not a destination hut with services. Register with the local PZS office in Kobarid if you plan to stay, and tell someone your route. The hut sees occasional use, so don't expect supplies or recent logbook entries. Bring everything you need: food, water, light, and warm layers.

Not walking in? These run in the same valley and are worth a day.
- Bovec: Canyon Učja — The biggest zipline park in Europe 3 hours · from €80 · 4.9★ (794 reviews) Ten ziplines across a side canyon with big Soča valley views; pure adrenaline rather than hiking, and not for anyone uneasy about heights or harnesses.
- From Bovec: Premium Rafting on Soča River with Photo Service 3 hours · from €57 · 4.9★ (588 reviews) The most-reviewed rafting run on the Soča and beginner-friendly, but the water is snowmelt-cold well into summer and the "premium" tag mostly means better base facilities and photos.
- From Ljubljana: Guided Day Tour to Soča and Kranjska Gora 10.5 hours · from €114 · 4.9★ (874 reviews) The best-reviewed way to reach Kobarid and the WWI front from the capital without a car, with a short walk to Kozjak waterfall — but it is a ten-hour day in a vehicle for a few short stops.
- From Bovec: Sušec Stream Canyoning in the Soča Valley 3.5 hours · from €62 · 4.9★ (236 reviews) The gentlest of the Bovec canyoning options and fine for confident first-timers, though you will be jumping into cold pools and abseiling, so it is not a gorge walk.
