Lodge Petra Skalarja

Dom Petra Skalarja sits at 2,260m in the Julian Alps, serving hikers and mountaineers crossing the high plateau between Triglav and the surrounding peaks. Reach the hut from Kranjska Gora in 5–6 hours via Ključ or from the Vrata Valley approach in 4–5 hours. The hut is also accessible from Planica and the Krnica valley routes. This location makes it a natural hub for traverses, ascents of Triglav (2,864m), and access to the alpine terrain around穴e (Big Triglav Lakes).

The lodge holds 82 beds across multiple rooms and runs a fully staffed kitchen. Meals include dinner, breakfast, and packed lunches—order packed lunches the night before. Water and fuel are reliable here; the hut is well-maintained by PZS Bovec section. Expect basic Alpine hut standards: dormitory rooms, shared washrooms, and no shower facilities. The hut is open from late spring through early autumn (typically May to October, but verify current dates before travel).

Book directly with the hut by phone or email well in advance. July and August weekends fill quickly—book at least 4–6 weeks ahead for summer. June and September offer better availability. The hut's PZS membership discount applies if you hold a Slovenian Alpine Association card. Weather can change rapidly at this elevation; bring waterproof gear regardless of the forecast.
