Hut Preserje

Koča Preserje stands at 1,520m in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, on the southern slopes of Preserje mountain. The hut sits on a major hiking route between the Kamnik valley and higher terrain. Most walkers reach it in 2.5–3 hours from Kamniška Bistrica (the road end in the Kamnik valley), following a well-marked trail that climbs steadily through beech forest and alpine meadows. The route is popular for onward hikes to Turska Gora (2,040m) and connections toward Skuta and the broader network of PZS-maintained trails in this range.
Koča Preserje is a simple, traditional mountain hut run by the PZS. The hut has capacity for around 40 people in dormitory rooms and a few private doubles. Meals are available: typically a hearty dinner, breakfast, and packed lunches for onward travel. The hut has no shower facilities, though there is running water. Cell signal is unreliable. The hut opens year-round but confirm availability during winter months before arriving.
Book directly with the hut or through the PZS. During summer weekends and July–August, book 2–4 weeks ahead if you want guaranteed accommodation. Mid-week visits in shoulder seasons (May–June, September–October) are quieter. Winter visits require advance notice as staffing is limited. The hut is unguarded for much of the off-season, so confirm opening dates beforehand.
