About
The hut sleeps 18 across simple rooms and offers hot meals when staffed—check ahead for kitchen availability. Water comes from the stream. It's a working mountain shelter, not a hostel: expect basic comfort and reliable food rather than amenities. The PZS-managed hut operates through the main hiking season (May to October), though opening dates vary by year. Winter access depends on snow conditions and is not reliable.
Book directly by phone well ahead for weekends and July–August. The hut can fill quickly on fine-weather weekends, especially among Slovenian hikers. Weekday visits outside peak season rarely need advance notice. Have a backup plan if your preferred date isn't available—the valley has other accommodation options in Kranjska Gora, 8km downvalley.

Not walking in? These run in the same valley and are worth a day.
- From Ljubljana/Bled: Triglav National Park & Soča Day Tour up to 12 hours · from €110 · 4.9★ (331 reviews) A long coach day that crosses the Vršič Pass into the Soča valley — the scenery is genuinely the best in Slovenia, but expect a lot of driving and only short walks at each stop.
- Mount Triglav 2-Day Guided Climb – Small Group, IFMGA Guide 2 days · from €318 · 5.0★ The right way to do Triglav if you are not an experienced scrambler: IFMGA guide, gear included, max six people and a hut overnight — but it is exposed cabled terrain that needs a head for heights and real fitness, and it has only a handful of reviews so far.
- Debela Peč Panoramic Hike from Bled & Ljubljana 8-10 hours · from €72 · 5.0★ An actual guided mountain hike rather than a bus tour — good ridge views across to Triglav for people who want a proper day on their feet, though the review count is still small.
