Planinski Lodge pod Ježo

Planinski Dom pod Ježo sits at 740m in the foothills of the Julian Alps, northwest of Kranjska Gora. The hut serves as a base for day hikes into the surrounding limestone terrain and is accessible by car via a rough forest road—park at the designated area and walk the final 20 minutes to the lodge. Most visitors approach on foot from Kranjska Gora town, a 2-hour walk through mixed forest. The hut also works as a waypoint on longer routes through the northern Julian Alps.
The lodge is a PZS-affiliated hut with 40 beds split across several rooms. It runs a simple restaurant serving hearty mountain food at lunch and dinner; book ahead if you're arriving with a larger group. The hut has running water and basic toilet facilities. Open year-round, though weekday staffing in winter is limited—phone ahead before visiting November to March. Summer weekends fill quickly with hikers heading to nearby peaks and local families.
Contact the hut directly to book beds and meals. Book at least 2 weeks ahead for summer weekends; July and August weekends often need booking a month in advance. Phone reservations are preferred over email. The hut has no electricity for charging devices—bring a headlamp or torch.
