Hut na Planini Kuhinja

Koča na Planini Kuhinja sits at 1,002m on Planina Kuhinja, a high pasture in the Julian Alps managed by PZS and PD Kobarid. The hut serves as a base for hiking in the Kobarid area and for approaches to peaks in the surrounding mountains. Access is via marked trails from the Kobarid valley; the approach takes 2–3 hours depending on your starting point. The location puts you in open alpine terrain with views across the Julian Alps and toward the Kanin plateau.
The hut has 24 beds in simple mountain accommodation. Meals are available: breakfast, packed lunches, and evening dinner. Water comes from a spring on the pasture. The hut operates seasonally, typically from late spring through early autumn; confirm opening dates before planning your visit. The PZS manages the facility to standard alpine hut standards—expect basic but functional facilities and no electricity.

The hut works well as an overnight stop on multi-day routes across the Julian Alps or as a base for day hikes on Planina Kuhinja and neighboring ridges.
