About

Triglavski Dom na Kredarici sits at 2,515m on the north face of Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak at 2,864m. The hut is the final staging point for most summit attempts. Reach it from Planina Kreda in 2.5–3 hours, or from Koča pri Jezeru in 1.5–2 hours. Both routes climb steeply through alpine terrain. The standard route to Triglav's summit takes 2–3 hours from the hut. This is genuine high-altitude hiking: expect loose scree, exposed scrambling, and weather that changes fast. Start early if you plan to summit and descend the same day.

The PZS-managed lodge has 341 beds split across multiple buildings, making it the largest hut in Slovenia. The main hut serves hot meals, soup, and basic provisions. A smaller bivouac building provides emergency shelter. There are no showers or WiFi. Water comes from a spring. The hut operates year-round, though winter access is serious mountaineering. July and August are crowded; expect 300+ people on fine days. The hut fills nightly during the summer season.

Book in advance, especially for July and August—aim for 2–3 weeks ahead minimum. Call PD Ljubljana-Matica directly on +386 (0)1 434 5683. Arrive early in the day to secure meals and beds. Half-board (bed plus dinner and breakfast) is standard. The hut staff speak English. Come prepared for cold nights: temperatures drop below freezing even in summer.
