Črnuški Lodge na Mali Planini

Črnuški Dom sits on Mali Planina at 1,526m in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The hut anchors a high pastoral plateau surrounded by beech forest and alpine meadows. Reach it from the village of Črnuce (below Mali Planina) in roughly 2 hours on marked trails. The walk gains 700m steadily but without technical sections—firm ground and switchbacks most of the way. Summer hikers often continue to Turska gora (1,801m) or loop across Mali Planina's open ridges.
The lodge operates as a traditional PZS mountain hut with 60 bed spaces in mixed dormitories. Hot meals focus on hearty Slovenian fare: soups, stews, and grilled meat. Simple rooms have basic bedding; bring a sleeping bag liner. Water, heating, and toilets are reliable. The hut opens year-round but staffing and meal service depend on season—expect full service May through September and weekends in shoulder months. Winter visits need advance notice.
Contact the hut directly by phone to confirm availability and meals, especially outside peak summer. Weekends from June through August fill quickly; book at least 2 weeks ahead. The hut is popular with local hiking groups and school parties, so midweek visits offer more flexibility. Half-board rates are standard; dinner and breakfast included with your bed.
