Hut na Travniku

Koča na Travniku sits at 1548m in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, serving as a base for routes across the central ridge of the range. Reach it from Ljubno ob Savinji by hiking up through beech forest for roughly 2–2.5 hours. The trail is well-marked but steep in sections. The hut stands on Travnik meadow, giving access to peaks including Ojstrica and onward traverses to Korošica and the wider ridge system. Most visitors approach from the Ljubno side, though connections exist to other PZS huts for multi-day trips.
The hut is basic, typical of Slovenian alpine refuges managed by PZS. Capacity is around 50–60 beds in dormitory rooms. Meals are available for overnight guests: hot dinner, breakfast, and packed lunches for the next day. A tap provides drinking water. The facilities are minimal—expect no showers or mobile signal—but the location and access to ridge walking justify the simplicity. Open from May to October, weather permitting; confirm dates with the manager before visiting in shoulder seasons.

June, September and October are quieter. The hut may close after early snow, so call before setting out in late autumn. Arrive early in the day if not pre-booking to secure a bed.
