About

Kocbekov dom na Korošici, the hut on the Korošica pasture at about 1,810 m below the south side of Ojstrica, burned down in October 2017 and has not been rebuilt. What the Slovenian Alpine Association (PZS) lists today is the Korošica shelter (zavetišče): 16 places in a shared dormitory and a limited choice of food and drink, with no beds in rooms. PZS shows it open in July and August only. Beds cannot be reserved, because there is almost no phone signal, and you must bring your own bedding.

Korošica is a crossroads of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps on the Slovenian Mountain Trail, between Kamniško sedlo and Raduha. After the fire, PD Celje - Matica could not rebuild both this hut and Frischaufov dom on Okrešelj, and in 2022 it sold Korošica to the Municipality of Luče; PZS now gives the Luče tourist information centre ([email protected]) as the contact. The shortest approach is about 2 hours from the Podvežak pasture, reached by 14.5 km of forest road from Luče. Longer approaches come from Robanov kot (about 3 hours 30 minutes on the Slovenian Mountain Trail), from Kamniška Bistrica over Presedljaj, and from the Logar Valley via Koča na Klemenči jami and Škarje.

The pasture looks onto Ojstrica to the north and the Dleskovec plateau to the east. Short walks lead to the natural arch in Lučki Dedec (45 minutes), Lake Vodotočnik (1 hour) and Petkove njive (30 minutes). Outside July and August, treat Korošica as a place to pass through, not a place to sleep, and check the PZS page before relying on the shelter.
