Planinska Hut na Sv. Jakobu

Planinska Koča na Sv. Jakobu sits at 961m on the slopes of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The hut is reached via marked trails from the village of Sv. Jakob, a 45-minute walk from the main road. Most hikers approach from Kamnik town, which is 12km away by car or bus. The location gives access to ridgeline walking across the Kamnik-Savinja range and connects to longer routes heading toward Ojstrica and the higher peaks above. Plan 1.5 to 2 hours for the approach hike from the road.
The hut is a simple refuge with capacity for around 25 people. Meals are available year-round when the hut is staffed—typically soups, stews, and basic local food. Bunk beds are in shared rooms; shower facilities are basic but adequate. The PZS maintains the hut as part of its network of alpine refuges. No electricity beyond essential lighting, so bring a headtorch. Water comes from a reliable spring on site.

Winter access is possible but weather dependent; check conditions with the local Kamnik PZS section before setting out. The hut operates year-round but may have reduced staffing in winter months.
