Planinski Lodge na Kališču

Planinski Dom na Kališču sits at 1534m on Kališče, a forested ridge in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The hut serves as a base for day hikes and is accessible from multiple approaches. From Kranj, most hikers reach it via the village of Golnik, then ascend through beech forest to the hut—roughly 2.5 hours walking. The route is well-marked and gains 800m elevation. The hut also connects to trails leading toward Ojstrica and deeper into the range, making it useful for multi-day routes.
The lodge has capacity for around 40 people and operates as a staffed hut offering simple meals and drinks. Beds are dormitory-style. The hut is open year-round but attendance drops sharply in winter. PZS members receive discounts on overnight rates. Facilities include basic washing areas and outhouses; expect no electricity or heating beyond a stove in common areas during colder months. The hut's appeal is practical rather than luxurious—it works for hikers crossing the range or based here for local peaks.
