Planinski Lodge na Mrzlici

Planinski Dom na Mrzlici sits at 1,093m on the northern slopes of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Reach it from the village of Mrzlica in the Savinja Valley—the approach is straightforward and takes 45 minutes on foot through forest. The hut works well as a base for day hikes in the range or as an overnight stop on longer traverses through the Kamnik Alps. From here you can access routes toward Ojstrica, Grintovec, and the surrounding ridge network.
The lodge has 40 beds split across simple rooms and dormitories. Meals are available—book dinner ahead if you're arriving with a group. Water and basic toilet facilities are standard. The hut operates year-round, though staff presence is most reliable during the main hiking season from May through October. Winter access depends on snow conditions and requires prior arrangement.
Book directly through PZS (the Slovenian Alpine Association) or contact the hut warden in advance, especially for groups or winter visits. July and August attract regular weekend traffic from the Ljubljana area, so aim to arrive early or book a bed ahead during this period. The hut fills less predictably outside summer months, but calling ahead is still sensible if you depend on a bed.
