Berghaus Männdlenen

Berghaus Männdlenen sits at 2,344m in the Bernese Oberland, accessed via the Engstligen Valley from Adelboden. The approach takes 2.5 to 3 hours on foot from the village. The hut works as a base for ridge walks and peak circuits in the surrounding limestone terrain, or as a waypoint on longer traverses between valleys.
The hut holds 30 beds across shared rooms. Meals are served daily—order dinner the evening before. There's no piped water at the hut, so bring a full bottle or collect from the stream below. The hut operates year-round, though snow and avalanche risk restrict access November to March. Summer weekends and school holidays fill quickly.
Book at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August. Contact by email or phone directly. June and September are quieter but still reliable for good weather and solid snow conditions at higher elevations nearby. Winter ascents require experience with crampons and rope work.
