Hubel Rippa

Hubel Rippa sits at 1135m in the Emmental valley south of Eggiwil. It's a working Alpine farm offering simple overnight accommodation and meals to hikers passing through the Bernese Oberland. Drive to Eggiwil and walk south into the valley for roughly 1.5 hours, or approach from neighbouring valleys depending on your route. The farm location makes it ideal as a base for day walks in the rolling pre-Alpine terrain.
The hut is family-run and offers basic dormitory beds and private rooms. Meals feature traditional Swiss cuisine using farm produce. There's no hot shower — expect washbasin facilities typical of working farms rather than dedicated mountain huts. The atmosphere is informal and geared toward independent hikers seeking authentic valley accommodation rather than alpine lodge comfort.
